DASN-SIMEI: what a food MEI needs to declare

Many delivery owners pay the monthly DAS and think they're done — forgetting the annual filing: the DASN-SIMEI. It's mandatory and simple, but letting it slip brings fines and headaches. Here's what it is and what to declare.

DAS vs. DASN-SIMEI: don't mix them up

• DAS: the monthly form you pay (social security + taxes), at a low fixed amount.
• DASN-SIMEI: the annual declaration of the previous year's revenue. One is a monthly payment; the other is an annual filing. Both exist.

What you declare

Basically, the gross revenue of the previous year — how much your business took in total. If you had an employee, there's a field to report that too. It's a lean declaration, not a personal income tax return.

When to file

The DASN-SIMEI usually has a deadline of May 31 each year (for the previous year). Confirm the official date for the year, as it can vary. Missing the deadline brings a fine.

Why organized revenue makes it all easy

The declaration is simple if you know how much you made. Whoever logs everything during the year fills it out in minutes. Whoever doesn't spends the new year hunting for receipts and guessing a number — and guessing on a declaration is a path to a review flag.

Tip: separate and record all year

• Keep the business account separate from your personal one.
• Record sales month by month.
• Keep receipts and invoices.

Then, in May, the DASN-SIMEI is just transcribing a number you already have.
